Blake Ferrante joined MVB in 2017 and serves clients as a relationship banker at MVB Bank’s Leesburg, Virginia, banking center. She also works with MVB’s other two Northern Virginia locations (Reston and McLean) to assist with staffing and business development. Blake is the go-to person in the region for businesses that want to provide a program of special banking benefits to their employees.
Before joining Team MVB, Blake was an independent agent with the National Agents Alliance, where she sold a variety of life insurance and annuity options to individuals and businesses. Prior to that, she supervised day-to-day operations at the Academy of Arts at January’s in Charleston, West Virginia, where she had oversight for 400 art students and 19 teachers. Blake attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where she studied applied mathematics and math education.
What brought Blake to Team MVB? “Hands down I love the MVB culture. There is a distinct culture at MVB starting at the executive level, down to the branch level, and even with our clients. My teammates at MVB are just good, quality, trustworthy people,” she says. “Raised in West Virginia, I was already familiar with MVB’s reputation and had a respect for its culture. I wanted to relocate to Northern Virginia and was fortunate enough to wait until there was an opportunity to join MVB. I’m quickly learning that Northern Virginia is one of the coolest places to live. It’s the perfect balance of DC hustle and bustle and beautiful Virginia heritage.”
She adds, “What sets MVB apart is we treat every client with personalized service. I have clients who need help balancing their checkbooks. I have clients who are busy business owners and may need me to drop paperwork by their offices. Our goal is to make banking as easy as possible for each of our clients. That’s what we do!”
Blake says she was able recently to help a family get a personal loan that was denied by another bank. They were so excited by the good news that the wife was in tears. “Knowing that you are really making a difference for someone is the most rewarding feeling,” she says.
Blake describes her banking philosophy as: “Always do right by the client.”
In her off hours, Blake says she is an old soul who loves cooking, horseback riding and doing jigsaw puzzles.
In fact, Blake is a highly accomplished equestrian. “When I used to show horses competitively, I won several national championship titles,” she says. As an independent practitioner at stables in Wayne, Hurricane and Nitro, West Virginia, from 2004 to 2012, she developed and implemented instruction strategies for individuals of all backgrounds, abilities and skill sets. She coached more than 50 students to compete in horse shows at local, regional and national levels and organized private therapeutic riding classes designed for disabled children and adults.
Gardening is another of Blake’s loves. “My close friends and family jokingly call me ‘The Crazy Plant Lady.’ I am obsessed with gardening. I have about 50 plants in my small apartment. We jokingly call it ‘The Jungle,’ ” she says.
Because her family is spread out, Blake spends travel time visiting them in Charlotte, Detroit and Charleston, West Virginia. “I come from a very loud, close Italian family. Moving to NOVA has taken me away from my family, but we are fortunate enough to alternate visits about once a month or meet for a WVU game in Morgantown (Go Eers!),” she says.
